The official presentation of the Ermess Green project took place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Regional Institute for Floriculture in Sanremo. The international initiative focuses on improving sustainability in protected cultivation systems through innovative energy solutions.
The project is led by the Regional Institute for Floriculture of Sanremo together with AGRESCO SRL, the University of Genoa, Université Savoie Mont Blanc and AGRITHERMIC. Co-financed by ERDF funds, Ermess Green aims to develop an integrated approach that combines climate management, efficient resource use and renewable energy self-production.
More sustainable and energy-efficient greenhouses
The project has a clear objective: make greenhouses used for controlled environment cultivation more sustainable and energy efficient. In particular, Ermess Green aims to reduce energy consumption while lowering the environmental impact of current production systems.
As part of the initiative, two high-efficiency greenhouse prototypes will be developed. The first structure will be built in Liguria, in the Province of Imperia. Meanwhile, the second greenhouse will rise in the French Rhône-Alpes region.
Innovation and best practices for the floriculture sector
Both pilot greenhouses will serve as testing models for new technologies focused on energy efficiency in agriculture. At the same time, the project will promote knowledge transfer activities and technical dissemination dedicated to protected cultivation systems. In addition, Ermess Green will create a practical handbook focused on energy and cultivation best practices. The guide will provide concrete tools and operational support for companies working in the floriculture and nursery sector.
A new step forward for Riviera floriculture
The initiative represents another important step in the innovation and development path of Riviera floriculture. Once again, the sector confirms its strategic role for the local economy while strengthening its international outlook and sustainable vision.
