The new Applied Floriculture School was officially presented at the Floriseum in Sanremo. CIA Imperia, CIPAT Imperia and Florcoop Sanremo promote the project to support the future of the floriculture sector. Organisers introduced the initiative on Thursday, May 28, 2026, during an official event held at the Floriseum in Sanremo. This new training programme aims to strengthen floriculture production capacity and support the entire commercial supply chain. At the same time, the project responds to the growing demand from international markets. CIA Imperia, through its training body CIPAT Imperia, developed the project together with Florcoop Sanremo.
Several institutional representatives and industry professionals attended the event, including Mariangela Cattaneo, President of CIA Imperia, Gianfranco Croese, President of Florcoop Sanremo, Ester Moscato, Councillor for Floriculture of the Municipality of Sanremo, Franco Barbagelata, Director of the Mercato dei fiori di Sanremo, Luca Mangolini, President of A.N.C.E.F., floriculture entrepreneur Sergio Viglietti and Professor Diego Maccario from the Ruffini – Aicardi Institute.
Practical training for the future of floriculture
The Applied Floriculture School supports the future growth of the floriculture sector, driven by increasing demand from international markets. Students gain practical tools and technical skills to start a professional career in floriculture and support the development of local production. Courses combine theoretical lessons, agronomic knowledge and hands-on activities directly within floriculture companies across the territory. The programme aims to train skilled professionals capable of driving innovation and sustainable growth in local floriculture.
Synergy with the “Ricoltiviamo” project
The initiative forms part of a broader strategy focused on strengthening the floriculture sector in Western Liguria. In addition, the new school works in synergy with the recently launched “Ricoltiviamo” Help Desk, supported by the Municipality of Sanremo. The project promotes the recovery and redevelopment of abandoned agricultural land. Through integrated projects and new training opportunities, the territory aims to support and expand a sector that continues to play a strategic role in the local economy.
The role of the Mercato dei fiori di Sanremo
The Mercato dei fiori actively supports the development of the floriculture sector. Recent structural investments funded through the PNRR programme now improve services and optimise the connection between supply and demand across the supply chain. During the event, Mercato dei fiori Director Franco Barbagelata highlighted the importance of building a shared vision for the future of the sector:
“Over the last year we have seen important initiatives for floriculture. Many organisations are moving forward, but stronger political support is still missing. Now we must identify the main needs and build a project to present to the institutions.”
