For decades, the Mercato dei fiori di Sanremo has been a key economic, cultural and identity landmark for the city and for the entire Ligurian floriculture sector. It brings together tradition, innovation and an international outlook, positioning Sanremo as a recognised reference point well beyond national borders.
Ongoing PNRR investments and timeline on trackI
In this context, Amaie Energia e Servizi S.r.l., which manages the Mercato dei fiori di Sanremo, confirms that PNRR funded investments are progressing steadily. Moreover, the project follows the approved schedule and meets all authorised milestones.
As stated by engineer Luca Pesce, Project Manager, approximately 30 percent of the planned works have been completed to date. Overall completion is confirmed by June 2026, in accordance with current regulatory deadlines.
An investment plan of approximately €15.7 million
As explained by engineer Enrico Ingenito, Works Director, the investment plan amounts to approximately €15.7 million. In detail, the programme covers several areas of the Mercato dei fiori complex. These include the main building with two above ground floors and one underground level. In addition, the works involve the central structure with a covered courtyard and laminated wooden beams, the Silos building, and the warehouse facility covering approximately 18,800 square metres.
Redevelopment, logistics and facilities
The redevelopment of unused ground floor areas in the main building enhances safety compliance and expands spaces for trading, handling and logistics.
Infrastructure upgrades also include an 8,000 square metre intermodal hub for heavy vehicles, alongside new and refurbished cold storage facilities designed to optimise product preservation.
Further interventions involve the replacement and upgrading of refrigeration units serving the cold rooms, the creation of a cold storage accumulation and distribution system known as the “cold bank”, and the installation of photovoltaic systems to reduce energy costs in a highly energy intensive activity. Fire prevention upgrades are also planned for the warehouse building.

Support actions for the market system
Alongside the structural works, as stated by Market Director Franco Barbagelata, part of the investment is dedicated to supporting the market system as a whole. These actions include training initiatives, marketing activities, and participation in trade fairs and sector events. The objective is to strengthen operators’ competitiveness and create new development opportunities.
A shared vision for the future of the Mercato dei fiori
“The Mercato dei fiori di Sanremo is not only a place for commercial exchange, but an economic and cultural asset looking to the future,” says Sergio Tommasini, President of Amaie Energia e Servizi. “The ongoing investments represent a strategic choice to make this infrastructure more modern, efficient and sustainable, while fully respecting its history and identity.”
In a context of increasingly global and digital markets, the Mercato dei fiori di Sanremo continues to stand out as a symbol of excellence, sustainability and territorial value, combining tradition and innovation.
Amaie Energia e Servizi also confirms its commitment to completing the project on schedule, ensuring transparency, continuous dialogue with operators and a shared vision for growth.
