Mercato dei fiori di Sanremo once again brings the prestige and beauty of Ligurian floriculture to the global stage. Thanks to its long-standing collaboration with the Nobel Foundation, Mercato dei fiori di Sanremo is responsible for supplying plant materials for the exclusive floral arrangement of the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden, on 10 December.
A network project, a collective success
This important initiative celebrates the synergy between various local institutions. The project is the result of collaboration between Mercato dei fiori di Sanremo, the Municipality of Sanremo, the Liguria Region and the Chamber of Commerce delle Riviere. This partnership provides a unique opportunity for the excellence of local floricultural production to shine in all its beauty and uniqueness.
The floral palette: details and figures of the arrangement
This year, Swedish floral designers are using an impressive quantity of material, including approximately 16,000 stems and as much as 400 kg of ornamental foliage. The selected flowers and greenery reflect the richness of the Riviera.
Flowers: ranunculus (Elegance and Clone varieties), anemones, roses, alstroemerias, poppies, hydrangeas, statice sinuata and carnations.
Ornamental foliage: Asparagus plumosus, eucalyptus (Stuartiana green and autumn varieties), coloured poplar, Parvifolia, olive, Ruscus (garden variety), viburnum, mastic, mimosa Denis Boodey, laurel and aspidistra leaves.
Moreover, the primary colour palette ranges from warm shades such as yellow, orange and gold, through red and purple. Softer hues of pink and peach are then introduced, ending with the cooler tones of lilac.

Ensuring the quality and freshness of the Riviera’s typical products is the top priority. For this reason, all goods have undergone careful inspection.
Meticulous logistics work has proven essential to the success of the operation. Products are packed on site and transported to their destination using temperature-controlled vehicles, ensuring optimal freshness and quality upon arrival in Stockholm.
